Are you an experienced pharmacy technician?

We are recruiting a qualified pharmacy technician (ideally with experience of hospital procurement) to work with our team.

You will be involved in the final accuracy check of prescriptions, ordering medicines from wholesalers, supervising other staff.

You will be recruited as Trust bank staff, giving the opportunity to work additional shifts as needed.

To apply you must hold GPhC registration.

Main duties of the job

To lead, develop and effectively manage all procurement activities within the Pharmacy Department to support the effective delivery of medicines management within BDCFT. Key areas of responsibility include managing the Pharmacy stock control system by monitoring, reviewing, and analysing stock activity with the aim to optimise stock control, reduce costs, reduce waste, and verify savings. To ensure that all procurement is undertaken in accordance with Good Distribution Practice. To ensure all procurement complies with local, regional, and national contracts. To support the Chief Technician and other Lead Technicians on the training and delivery of medicines management and technical pharmacy services to mental health inpatient and community services. To assist the Chief Pharmacy Technician in maintaining appropriate staffing levels of technical staffing to match workload, producing weekly rotas, amending to reflect unforeseen absences, and handling annual leave requests. To promote further development of the pharmacy technician's role within the Trust by acting as co-ordinator for dispensing, medicines reconciliation, and accuracy checking processes. To support the senior pharmacists in development and review of the pharmacy service.

Understanding of hospital pharmacy systems. Excellent current knowledge of Pharmacy Procurement.

Desirable

Mentoring skills.

Qualifications

Essential

BTEC or NVQ III or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Registered Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.

Skills

Essential

Effective written and oral communication skills.
