Education and Qualifications

Registered Children’s Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Midwife Qualification in Specialty Teaching and assessing qualification Experience

Recent experience at senior staff nurse level within neonatal nursing Evidence of clinical competence in neonatal nursing skills Evidence of ability to assume a lead clinical role Understanding of the setting and monitoring of standards Evidence of teaching and developing staff Skills Ability and Knowledge

Demonstrable clinical skills in neonatal nursing Ability to make clinical decisions Ability to manage the care of neonatal conditions including intensive, high dependency and special care Neonatal IV therapy, venepuncture and cannulation skills Demonstrate ability to obtain and evaluate information to aid decision making IT skills including word processing, email, and internet NMC Regulations NHS Modernisation initiatives Understanding of Child protection awareness Knowledge of clinical governance agenda Aware of clinical risk and quality issues Personal Qualities
