Job summary We are pleased to announce a new opportunity for a
Bank Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist
to join our Head and Neck Oncology and ENT team. This role will involve working with inpatients and outpatients with a range of ENT / Head and Neck, voice, swallowing, and upper airway conditions. The successful applicant will have specialist clinical knowledge and skills in the management of dysphagia and communication difficulties and will be able to work independently to support the team in providing excellent patient care. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent HCPC registration Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists RCSLT Dysphagia Competency Evidence of a range of CPD activities including membership of CEN groups Desirable Videofluoroscopy competencies RCSLT level 3 Experience Essential Working with an adult caseload, assessing and treating patients with a variety of aetiologies. Experience of working as an SLT in an acute setting with H & N and/or laryngology Independent assessment, management, therapeutic intervention, and discharge of patients with communication disorders and dysphagia Providing carer support in healthcare settings Working effectively in a team Dealing appropriately with difficult situations Teaching and educating patients, relatives, carers & staff Desirable Experience of the supervision of students and junior staff Other Essential Ability to work flexibly across teams and sites Language requirement Essential Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
