Join Our Team as a Behaviour Mentor - Make a Difference in Student's Life

Are you passionate about helping students overcome challenges in their educational journey? Do you want to play a key role in supporting a children's academic and emotional growth? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors to join our team as Teaching Assistants in a local primary school's Learning Resource Base (LRB).

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and behavioural challenges, empowering them to thrive both in the classroom and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

Individualised Support:

Offer one-on-one assistance to students, ensuring they have the resources and guidance to excel academically and socially. Collaborative Teamwork:

Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to develop and implement personalised strategies that support the student's unique learning needs. Flexibility & Resilience:

Adapt your approach throughout the day to meet the evolving needs of the student and the classroom environment. Impactful Guidance:

Leverage your understanding of child psychology to foster both emotional and academic development, helping the student build confidence and succeed. Behavioural Support:

Assist in managing challenging behaviours by applying proven techniques and strategies, ensuring a positive learning environment. Building Relationships:

Develop trusting, supportive connections with students, their families, and school staff to ensure a holistic approach to the student's wellbeing. The role will require having experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs particularly ASD, either in a professional or personal setting.

Minimum £12.90 per hour Qualifications for a Successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). Possession of a Child-Only DBS certificate registered on the Update Service. Provision of two professional references covering the past 24 months. This school is based in Newport and is easily accessible via public transport. They have around 400 pupils and two dedicated class bases to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs. The school has recently undergone Estyn, where the report finds that the school has created a highly inclusive ethos where the pupils' wellbeing is at the core of everything that they do. Pupils work together maturely and there is an excellent working relationship between them and staff. They are happy coming to school and feel safe and cared for.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
