Job Description:

As a Behaviour Support Specialist, you will work closely with students, teachers, and school leadership to provide proactive and reactive support to students with behavioural challenges.

Your role will involve designing and implementing individualised behaviour intervention plans, delivering training to staff, and offering support to students in both individual and group settings.

The goal is to promote positive behavioural changes, improve emotional regulation, and ensure that every student has the support they need to succeed in their academic and social lives.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct assessments to identify behavioural concerns and determine the root causes. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) for students with behavioural challenges. Provide one-on-one and group support to students, fostering a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment. Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support students' behavioural needs and promote positive outcomes. Deliver professional development and training to staff on behaviour management techniques, strategies, and interventions. Track and document student progress, providing feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement. Support students during crisis situations, ensuring de-escalation techniques are effectively employed. Encourage the development of self-regulation, social skills, and emotional resilience in students. Stay informed of best practices in behaviour support and attend relevant professional development.

Qualifications: Experience working in educational settings with children or young adults, preferably in a behaviour support role. Knowledge of evidence-based behaviour management strategies and interventions. Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
