The role as a Behaviour Support Worker: Your day-to-day role will revolve around supporting the students in the classroom. You will assist them with their schoolwork and ensure they have all the right tools to achieve success.
Many of these students struggle with their behaviour due to stress, anxiety, and depression stemming from childhood trauma. They need someone with a positive attitude to help them process and regulate their emotions.
You will support the class teacher with general classroom duties, such as gathering materials for lessons and preparing the learning environment. You may also have the opportunity to support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
The successful Behaviour Support Worker: The successful candidate will be committed, positive, and proactive. You will need to be patient and able to take initiative. Some children will have educational healthcare plans and will need extra support, so you must adapt your approach to fit each child's needs. Attitude is crucial as you will be setting a good example for these students. Experience working with children is ideal but not essential.
Graduates are welcome to apply, as well as those with a background in sports, art, music, or drama.
