A mainstream school in Wantage , Vale of White Horse needs a Behavioural Teaching Assistant to support SEN students from Reception to Year 6. Those select students struggle with behaviour for one reason or another, some have mental heath challenges verses other children difficult home lives. The one thing they all have a in common is they need someone to listen to their concerns, be able to redirect any negative behaviour - installing positive educational reinforcements.
This role will be a mixture of a 1:1 and potential outside classroom interventions, covering all KS2 year groups from Year 3 to Year 6.
Your Behavioural Teaching Assistant daily duties:
- Collaborating with the KS2 Vale of White Horse class teacher and other experienced staff members to educate the Wantage , Vale of White Horse pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviours that may arise, training and techniques will be given.
- 1:1 (one-to-one) teaching support, where you may have to adapt the task to the child's needs/interests to communicate the information.
- Identify potential triggers for the Wantage, Vale of White Horse pupils in regard to their trauma and mental health needs, be able to offer an alternative focus to calm down the KS2 Student(s).
Qualifications:
- GCSE (must have Maths and English) - Minimum grade 4/C (required)
- 2:1 degree (Psychology, Sociology and Criminology (preferred, not required)
- SEN certifications (preferred, not required)
- Team Teach (desirable)
- Be located in Wantage, Vale of White Horse or able to commute daily.
Behavioural Teaching Assistant experience:
- Working with children (eg. Tutoring): 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
