Fixed term contract to December 2025 The Better Planning Coalition was last active during the Levelling-Up and Regeneration Bill but fell into abeyance. Now the new Labour government has placed planning at the heart of its programme, and the Better Planning Coalition has an important role to play. You will have the political judgement and dexterity to coordinate the Better Planning Coalition, comprising senior policy and parliamentary colleagues from 34 organisations across the environment, housing, planning, transport, and heritage sectors, in its lobbying on the changes the Labour government is seeking to make, maximizing our impact and influence. You will act as a critical interface between MPs and Peers from across the political spectrum, Whitehall officials, and the Better Planning Coalition, finding creative ways to boost our influence and impact via strategic policy, public affairs, and media relations. Ultimately, you will help ensure that the new government's planning changes reflect their priorities. You will work with other partners to help coordinate events in the planning space and update previous outputs such as Six Tests for Planning and the Vision for Planning. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead advocacy seeking lasting legislative and regulatory change for the good of climate, nature, and people at a unique period of change to the planning process. Our client is the secretariat for the Better Planning Coalition, so while working for the coalition, the role will be employed by our client, a countryside charity.
