Buckingham Futures are recruiting for a Pest Control Officer on behalf of our client in Greater London to fulfill the Council’s statutory obligations under the Public Health Act 1936 and the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949, ensuring the borough is kept free from rats, mice, and other vermin to the greatest extent possible.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver a customer-focused, high-quality pest control service in line with service specifications, legislation, council policies, and procedures. Conduct site and premises inspections based on complaints, service requests, or routine inspection programs. Advise residents, businesses, and council staff on suitable treatments and preventative measures. Plan, coordinate, and carry out pest control treatments, ensuring effective and safe methods are used. Prepare reports on investigations, actions, and visits for the Assistant Service Manager or other relevant council officers. Coordinate and execute block treatments, sewer baiting programs, and clinical waste collection and disposal. Handle the decontamination of premises and articles contaminated with blood or bodily fluids, including potential HIV or Hepatitis B contamination. Manage the collection and delivery of services, such as an Incontinent Laundry Service, as needed. Enforce statutory notices under relevant public health and pest control legislation. Maintain accurate records of pest control activities and monitor pesticide and equipment usage through a stock control register. Ensure proper care and use of council-issued equipment, including mobile phones and vehicles, following fleet management guidelines. Participate in an on-call roster for emergency responses outside regular working hours. Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as directed. Required Experience

Operational experience in pest control. Ability to plan, deliver, and coordinate workloads and projects. Proficiency in using various information systems and technology. Required Skills

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently. Competence in writing clear and concise reports and maintaining accurate case records, both written and digital.
