Safeguard the welfare of children, young persons, and vulnerable adults encountered during the role. Conduct site inspections, investigations, and produce detailed specifications of works, estimates, feasibility studies, plans, sketches, and drawings as needed. Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and offer expert testimony in court. Assist in developing team policies and procedures alongside the Senior Legal Repair Surveyor. Manage a varied caseload independently. Diagnose building failures and effectively use necessary instruments for assessments. Undertake quality assurance checks on repairs. Handle party wall awards, including necessary surveys and documentation. Ensure professional administration of building contracts, ensuring contractor compliance with regulations. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and court procedures. Serve as an expert witness, preparing reports, schedules, and providing evidence in court when required. Provide excellent customer service when dealing with service users, residents, and agencies. Establish effective communication with colleagues. Procure tenders/quotations for works not covered by main contracts, ensuring proper approval for expenditure. Oversee works on-site, monitoring quality, timelines, and materials, and recommending corrective actions when necessary. Maintain accurate records, handle correspondence, and manage variation orders, interim, and final accounts. Use communication and computer equipment to manage budgets, records, and other technical data. Undertake other duties as appropriate for the grade of the position.
