We are recruiting for a

Biodiversity Net Gain Consultant

for a dynamic multi-disciplinary design, planning, and environmental consultancy firm. This hybrid role combines field-based habitat surveying with office-based reporting. You will work collaboratively with in-house teams and external consultants, ensuring successful delivery of BNG projects while contributing to a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of diverse and complex projects from inception to post-development monitoring. Conduct habitat surveys using UKHab methodology, including on-site mapping and condition assessments. Deliver feasibility and design-stage Biodiversity Net Gain assessments. Develop 30-year site-specific habitat management and monitoring plans. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., arboriculture and landscape architecture) and external consultants. Advise clients and participate in external workshops and presentations. Update project documentation to reflect changes, updates, or consultee feedback. Ensure timely and effective delivery of services in line with project requirements. Contribute to team resource planning and support the ecology team as needed. Requirements

2 years’ experience conducting Biodiversity Net Gain assessments. Proficiency with the Biodiversity Metric and relevant policies. Degree-level qualification in ecology or a related environmental subject. Competent in UKHab methodology for habitat surveys, including data recording and analysis. Understanding of habitat management strategies and their role in conservation. Strong report-writing abilities, delivering technical data clearly and concisely. Proficiency in MS Office. Basic understanding of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Valid UK driving license. Willingness to work outside normal office hours and travel when required. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) is desirable. Seniority Level
