The post based in Pathology involves spending time on the wards, clinics and out patients supporting the clinical areas in the use of PoCT equipment. The role includes: training, maintenance, trouble shooting and monitoring quality performance of devices and users. The role would suit a BMS with an interest in PoCT.

Main duties of the job This role is a Site Lead for the PoCT service for our busy WHH site that includes A&E, ITU, Paediatrics, Maternity and an Urgent Treatment Centre. This is an opportunity to extend your experience in Pathology and to interact more closely with the clinical areas. The purpose of the role is to support the PoCT Coordinator in the provision of a proactive, professional PoCT service and quality governance framework to ensure patient safety in respect of PoCT activity. This will include device maintenance and troubleshooting, device evaluations, documentation, performance review of internal and external quality control, administration of external quality assessment programmes, training and audit for PoCT devices and line management for the PoCT Rapid Laboratory based in A&E.

Person Specification Qualifications and training
HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
POCT experience.
Personal/professional attributes/Other requirements
To be able to work in emotionally challenging areas such as A&E, resuscitation, adult and neonatal ITU.
Experience of responding to analyser troubleshooting requests.
Governance
Experience of working to laboratory ISO 15189 standards.
Previous laboratory experience with analysers and laboratory equipment.
Awareness of ISO15189:2022 requirements for POCT.
Skills and experience
Medical device management or experience of working to laboratory ISO standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to achieve set targets within a specified timeframe.
