Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans. Since then, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them to regain their independence. By providing our members with the tools and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and active life, we ensure they remain valued members of society. We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. We are currently seeking a Community Support Worker to join us on a full-time basis for a six month fixed term contract. The Role As a Community Support Worker, you will support our members in Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire to achieve their goals, whilst maximising their independence and wellbeing. You’ll carry out risk assessments and identify the needs of individuals and how to meet them, responding to queries and feedback to better co-ordinate services. Providing a member-led service, you’ll collaboratively plan and oversee the delivery of specialist interventions, wellbeing programmes, rehabilitation events and other activities, focusing on promoting our members’ independence and wellbeing. Additionally, you will: Act as the service co-ordinator and main point of contact for members Demonstrate and issue equipment Support the development and work of our volunteers Support our partnerships for joint working, member support and future programmes Ensure compliance with safeguarding and risk management policies About You To be considered as a Community Support Worker, you will need: Experience working with people with disabilities to maximise their independence and wellbeing Experience and knowledge of completing comprehensive, holistic assessments Experience delivering remote and face to face services The ability to use assessment tools and action plans The ability to identify safeguarding concerns and act in line with policies A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience The closing date for applications is 7 October 2024.
