We’re recruiting Immigration Officers to work in our National Asylum Intake Unit in Kent. Made up of 800 officers, the unit registers around 80 per cent of asylum claims nationally and is responsible for locking the identity and registering asylum claims from small boat arrivals, lorry drops and in-country claimants. Our Immigration Officers will join either our Kent Intake Unit or the Manston Initial Processing and Triage Centre. The Kent Intake Unit is based at Dover, and we will be opening a new site in Folkestone. The Intake Unit primarily deals with new arrivals detected either near the port, in the surrounding Kent area and small boat arrivals, with a particular focus on processing unaccompanied children. The work involves the identification of those children and working closely with Kent Children’s Services to ensure they are processed and placed into appropriate care as quickly as possible. Manston, near Ramsgate, is a new Home Office location with a focus on ‘small boat’ arrivals. The Initial Processing and Triage Centre is focused on adults and families arriving via small boats across the English Channel. Please note these are shift working roles; both teams operate 24/7, 365 days of the year. There is an annualised hours allowance, currently averaging 45.67 per cent of salary, which is paid in addition to your monthly salary to compensate for out of office hours working and flexibility.
