Brain Injury Clinical Specialist (Maternity Cover)

An exciting secondment opportunity for a Brain Injury Clinical Specialist has come up in the Neuro Clinical Specialist Team (NCST). If you are a dynamic, forward-thinking, motivated practitioner with experience and an interest in working with patients with a brain injury or a neurological condition then this could be an ideal role for you. The NCST is based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes and consists of a team of skilled nurses and therapists who have a wealth of experience and expertise in providing specialist support, advice, and information to patients with a neurological condition. You will lead on assessing and reviewing patients post brain injury and working alongside other health and social care colleagues to ensure patients' needs are identified and they are able to access appropriate services. There are opportunities for continual professional development and regular supervision is provided. We welcome applications from those with AHPs and nursing qualifications; please note this is a community-based role. You will work closely with the other Brain Injury Clinical Specialist to act as a lead for providing specialist resources for people with brain injury, their relatives and carers, members of the public, health professionals, and other third-party organizations. You will perform comprehensive specialist holistic assessments of needs for individuals within the specialist area, and plan, implement, and evaluate care delivery using evidence-based practice according to changing health needs in a variety of settings. You will support people with brain injury, relatives and carers, members of the general public, health professionals, statutory and voluntary bodies to develop knowledge about the management and symptoms associated with brain injury. In addition, you will work in partnership and act as a conduit in the care of people with brain injury between a variety of services and settings. About Us

To actively facilitate and participate in improving and enhancing the delivery of care to people with brain injury at a local, regional, and national level. To lead clinical audits within the specialist service area. To act as the single point of referrals for patients with brain injury with a GP within Milton Keynes. To be responsible for the screening assessment of rehabilitation referral needs of brain injury admissions to Milton Keynes University Hospital or other out-of-area hospitals as necessary for patients with a Milton Keynes GP. To perform comprehensive specialist holistic assessments of needs for individuals within the specialist area, plan, implement, and evaluate care delivery using evidence-based practice according to changing health needs in a variety of settings. To initiate and make referrals to consultants, other healthcare professionals, social services, and other appropriate organizations. To support, enable, and empower the patient, acting as an advocate where appropriate, to actively engage in their agreed treatment program or planned goals, to maximize their independence, reviewing and evaluating efficacy. To provide highly specialist advice, support, and education in the management of diverse problems relating to the specialist area to patients, carers, relatives, professionals, and others within voluntary and statutory bodies. To involve patients, carers, relatives, and other appropriate stakeholders in the planning and delivery of care and development of services, acting as a change agent and leading as appropriate. To establish and maintain effective communication systems with patients, carers, relatives, and professionals across health, social services, and voluntary organizations. Person Specification

Registered with Health Professionals Council/NMC in the UK. Membership of a professional body. Membership of a specialist interest group. Other
Current driving license for use in the UK and access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes. Experience
Extensive post-registration experience including substantial years in relevant neurological conditions. Ability to manage complex situations including experience of safeguarding. Experience of working in the NHS in the community. Experience of a range of physical health settings. Research and audit experience. Skills and Knowledge
Commitment to work collaboratively in a multi-professional environment both within and outside of the NHS. Demonstrate effective problem-solving within complex clinical situations. Specialist knowledge and application of current best practice in the service area. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work unsupervised and manage own caseload including highly complex patients. Counseling skills.
