A comprehensive induction programme will be offered to you to extend your clinical skills and communication with Breast Patients. You should be able to work well as part of a team and be able to use your own initiative when required. Good communication skills are essential as you will be working with patients, their relatives and other members of the health care team. Experience of working within a Breast unit or an outpatient environment would be an advantage. The breast nursing team is based in the Evergreen Suite. We are a team of 20 staff members including Unit managers, Sisters, ANPs, RN's, Band 3 and Band 2 HCA'S. JOB PURPOSE: The Staff Nurse will work as a member of the Breast Services team, delivering, planning and implementing nursing and clinical care to patients. After appropriate skills assessment, the post holder will be involved in nurse led clinics for pre-operative assessment and post-operative wound care management. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of clinic lists as directed by the Nurse Manager and Sister. The role also involves equipment and stock care and maintenance. They will proactively engage with patients, relatives, and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and to keep them informed about their treatment and care, and demonstrate compassion by recognising and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way.
