The Yard and Loading Manager is responsible for overseeing all yard operations, ensuring efficient loading and unloading processes, including container loading, managing a specialized forklift loading team, maintaining overall yard tidiness and upkeep, and managing the fork-truck fleet. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a focus on operational efficiency to support our overall delivery targets. About The Role

Yard Operations Management:

Oversee daily yard activities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Manage the scheduling and coordination of loading and unloading processes for both our trailer and container loading. Monitor yard stock levels and maintain accurate records. Container Loading Management:

Ensure proper loading techniques are employed for containers to maximize space utilization and minimize damage. Supervise and train staff on safe and efficient container loading practices. Coordinate with our Transport department to ensure timely and accurate loading and unloading of both trailers and containers. Forklift Loading Team Management:

Lead and manage our team of forklift operators responsible for loading and unloading specialized pallet sizes. Ensure team members are trained in safe forklift operation and adhere to our strict safety regulations. Monitor team performance and implement best practices for efficient loading operations. Fork-Truck Fleet Management:

Oversee the maintenance and operation of the fork-truck fleet, ensuring all equipment is in good working order. Schedule regular maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. Specialized Loading Activities:

Develop and implement loading plans for complex pallet sizes, ensuring safe and efficient handling. Train staff on best practices for handling specialized loads. Yard Tidiness and Upkeep:

Maintain overall yard cleanliness, organization, and tidiness, ensuring a safe working environment. Implement and oversee regular yard maintenance schedules and promote a tidy working environment. Conduct routine inspections of our yard to identify areas needing improvement and address them promptly. Stock Management:

Monitor and manage stock levels within the yard. Implement stock control procedures to minimize discrepancies and ensure accurate inventory records. Collaborate with Warehouse, Transport, and Commercial teams to align stock management with overall operational goals. Team Leadership:

Lead, train, and supervise your office and yard staff, promoting a productive and safe work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback. Organize staff schedules to meet operational demands. Continuous Improvement:

Promote an environment of continuous improvement and continuous learning with your team on an ongoing basis. Safety and Compliance:

Enforce strong safety practices and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and implement improvements as required. Operational Efficiency:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance yard operations, including container handling and loading processes. Collaborate with other departments including Transport and Customer Services to optimize workflows. Utilize technology and software to manage and track yard activities. Customer Service:

Liaise with internal departments and customers to address any issues related to yard operations and container loading. Ensure timely and accurate service delivery to meet customer expectations. Required Criteria

Proven experience in yard and warehouse management, logistics, and stock management. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities. Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in yard operations and forklift usage. 3rd Level Qualification. About The Company
