We are looking for an experienced and dynamic

Project Manager

to lead the development and operational setup of the Bristol Innovation Zones (BIZ) – an ambitious initiative designed to help the University of Bristol achieve its ambitions for commercial innovation. BIZ will be located within levels 1 and 4 of the University’s new Main Academic Building, set to open in 2026, and will serve as a dedicated space for commercial innovation projects involving businesses, government agencies, university staff, and students. In collaboration with a team of expert work package leads, the Project Manager will be pivotal in creating a flexible, impactful environment that aligns with the University’s 2030 strategic objectives, meets the requirements of key grant funders, and builds on the models of our already successful programmes such as the Engine Shed, SETsquared, and the Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre (QTIC). What will you be doing?

Project Development and Management : Lead project work packages for Space and Operations to establish a robust operational model for the BIZ. Stakeholder Engagement : Act as a primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders for the work packages for Space and Operations, including businesses, government agencies, and academic departments, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic goals and stakeholder expectations. Grant Compliance and Reporting : Ensure all outputs and outcomes meet the Project and funder requirements, maintaining regular reporting and compliance with grant obligations. Change Management : Lead discussions on additional service offerings associated with the work packages for Space and Operations, utilising a structured Change Request process through the Gateway Policy. You are self-motivated, pro-active, innovative, and able to use initiative where appropriate. You are willing to travel to attend project meetings, events, and training. You have line management experience, with proven ability to manage, mentor, and support administrative staff. Additional information
