First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Building Energy Manager on behalf of one of our clients. The role holder is responsible for providing technical expertise and advice to help deliver energy, carbon and water reduction initiatives as part of or alongside the planned maintenance programme for the estate. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Proactively identify opportunities to deliver energy, carbon and water reduction as part of or alongside the planned maintenance programme. Develop a pipeline of potential projects. Assess the feasibility of potential energy, carbon and water reduction projects, recommend those for delivery and develop the business case to secure the required funding. Respond to requests from departments across the university to explore opportunities to deliver energy, carbon or water reduction in their building(s). Work with departments to agree well-defined solutions to meet business and user requirements within agreed priorities, timescales and costs. Advise on protocols for monitoring the impact of approved energy, carbon and water reduction projects; develop and implement these protocols to monitor the performance of implemented projects. Report on the performance of implemented projects as required. Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities to reduce energy, carbon and water use across the estate. Working as part of the Estate Operations Team, provide an outstanding service to departments and building users across the University; proactively manage and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders. Act as subject matter expert on energy, carbon and water reduction within the Estate Operations Team. Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and departments as required. Make recommendations to the Director of Estate Operations on opportunities to improve the environmental sustainability impact and performance of the work delivered by the Estate Operations team. Provide briefings and share learning to help build the capacity and capability of the Estates Operations Team, as well as Building Managers and Facilities Managers. Disseminate learning from successful initiatives, including the preparation of case studies, to other departments and colleagues within the Estates Division. Keep abreast of technology developments and advancements with regards to energy, carbon and water reduction and identify technologies that may be beneficial and appropriate for the University. Report on the performance of implemented energy, carbon and water reduction projects as required. Skills and Qualifications: A degree or equivalent in an engineering or environmental discipline. Substantial experience in identifying and implementing a range of energy and carbon reduction projects in a variety of buildings and settings. Experience of monitoring and reporting the performance of energy, carbon, water reduction projects. Experience of engaging and working effectively with a range of stakeholders. Extensive technical knowledge of energy and carbon management and reduction. Substantial knowledge of energy management techniques and building services including latest industry and technology trends. Numerate with a high degree of accuracy and awareness of statistical analysis techniques. Advanced project management skills. Proven analytical and problem-solving capability. Extensive in-depth knowledge of developing legislation and policy relating to energy, carbon and water management and reduction. Confident with good inter-personal skills when dealing with internal and external contacts.
