We are working on behalf of an established consultancy that is expanding its Construction Health and Safety Team into a comprehensive Compliance Team, reflecting the latest changes introduced by the Building Safety Act. This exciting new role of Building Regulations Principal Designer located in or near Birmingham, offers the chance to make a significant impact in a business committed to delivering excellence across the UK.

Our client operates in diverse sectors, including residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, leisure, education, and more. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary consultancy during a pivotal phase of growth and success.

The Role As a Building Regulations Principal Designer, you will play a key role within a close-knit team while collaborating with other disciplines across the consultancy. You will help shape the team's growth and success, delivering solutions that meet client goals under the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.

Your projects will span across the Midlands and beyond, covering sectors such as high-rise residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and infrastructure. A willingness to travel within the UK is required.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations. Conduct plan checks and review designs to ensure compliance for Building Regulation approval. Attend client and design team meetings, offering professional guidance on building regulations. Deliver technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, and stakeholders. Ensure designs comply with current regulations and legislation. Produce high-quality outputs and maintain exceptional standards for clients. Identify new business opportunities and escalate them to senior management. Contribute to bid submissions, fee proposals, and business development initiatives. Build and maintain a growing network of professional contacts.

What We're Looking For Qualifications and Experience:

A degree in a construction-related field (preferably design-focused) or significant practical experience. Experience managing multiple projects with a strong understanding of design and construction processes. Proficiency in inspecting buildings and properties. Membership with RICS, CABE, or CIOB is highly desirable. A current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Skills and Knowledge:

Deep knowledge of Building Regulations, codes, and associated legislation. Exceptional client-facing skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including creating reports and presenting at meetings. Proficiency with SharePoint and other relevant technology.
