A London local authority is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Repairs and Mould & Damp Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to make a tangible difference in maintaining high-quality housing standards across the borough.
The Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of the authority's housing stock. Your key responsibilities will include: Conducting comprehensive property inspections to identify and assess repair needs, including: Preparing detailed and accurate survey reports, complete with photographs and supporting documentation. Structural issues: Cracks, subsidence, dampness Plumbing and electrical problems: Leaks, faulty wiring Roofing defects: Leaks, missing tiles Mould and damp: Identifying sources and assessing severity Providing expert advice and recommendations for repairs and remedial works. Collaborating with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of repair projects. Ensuring compliance with relevant building regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, practical experience, and excellent communication skills. To be successful in this role, you must have: Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) Qualification. HNC (Higher National Certificate) in a relevant field. Proven experience in property inspections and building maintenance. In-depth knowledge of building regulations and industry standards. Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. A valid UK driving license.
