Woking Borough Council is seeking a Building Surveyor with good communication skills, technical knowledge, and either has, or is working towards, MRICS status, to join our busy Property Services Team.

The Property Services Team has a proven track record in training surveyors, with the current Head of Property overseeing four candidates achieving MRICS status at the first attempt.

You will be working in the Property Services team, which is made up of approximately 35 people in 6 teams: Building Surveying and Capital Works, Engineering, Facilities Management, Estates Management, Property Finance, and Surface Water Drainage/Flooding.

Our Building Surveying and Capital Works Team has 3 surveyors, and the Building Surveyor role sits within this team.

Woking Borough Council has a good track record of successful property management, holding a large and highly valuable investment portfolio, as well as an operational/leisure portfolio.

You will have responsibility for the delivery of routine maintenance works and capital projects, from inception through to feasibility, design, procurement, and on-site delivery stages.

Duties will include feasibility studies, cost planning, design/specification, tendering, contract administration, and identification of typical building defects.

Duties may also include undertaking condition surveys, preparation of onward maintenance plans and costings, and general asset inspections.
