Make an impact at Serco : As a Medical Officer, you will make a positive impact by : Being responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures. Forming part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members. Playing an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and wellbeing of members pre and post deployments. Providing medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units. Being supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues. Providing services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward. About ADF Health Services : In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 40+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. About Lavarack : Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment. The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members. It also operates a 24 / 7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend shifts). To be successful in this role you will have : Current unconditional and unrestricted General registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration. Minimum of 2 years’ full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent), GPT Registrar rotations are counted. Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification. Please note : You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role. You don’t need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
