Business Analyst

Department - Information Services

Location - Melksham, SN12 6GN

Job summary Be the key step between the business and development teams in terms of communicating requirements. Build / maintain relationships with key business stakeholders and have a network of contacts to help understand different functions and processes within the business. Own / solve organizational information problems and requirements by analysing requirements; recommending system controls and protocols. Assist in the incident process to ensure all issues are dealt with within SLA's and assigned to developers when necessary. Assist in managing our business as usual change management process and associated tools. Provide support and advice to users in creating test plans and performing first pass / stage testing as appropriate. Own / analyse change requests to understand implications on other system users and other regions. Work with software supplier and users when required to ensure software meets business needs in terms of functionality and appearance. Work with other team members to ensure consistency of approach and application, to provide business process improvements consistent with agreed departmental standards. Provide support and advice to end users to ensure that the investments made in systems provide for maximum personal productivity. Perform the role of lead BA as required on software projects through each step of the Software Development Life Cycle. Work within the requirements of the Company's Health and safety, Quality and Environmental management systems. Specific responsibilities

Assists in achieving operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats. Define requirements by analysing business needs; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications. Work with our Change Management tool to ensure change requests are defined accurately and with enough detail for our development team to progress. Improve systems by studying current practices; proposing enhancements. Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures. Define test plans and perform first pass / stage suite testing. Feed into project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and other elements. Assist in monitoring project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions. Maintain system protocols by writing and updating procedures. Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation. Job holder requirements

Knowledge of:

Ideally Infor ERP but any ERP experience is welcome, Jira, Software Documentation, Software Development Process, Change Management, Software Requirements, Database Structure and SQL.

Personal skills:

Relationship Building and Networking, Analysing Information, Requirements Definition, Teamwork, Verbal and Written Communication, Promoting Process Improvement, Test Plan Development, Software Testing.
