Business Development Manager (BDM)

to join their team. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and leading the growth of the company’s portfolio in the commercial, education, and residential refurbishment and fit-out markets. You will play a key role in expanding the client base, driving new business, and maintaining a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving market. Key Responsibilities: Business Development:

Identify and generate new business opportunities in the commercial and residential construction sectors. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, developers, contractors, and industry professionals. Lead the development of business strategies and market plans for both sectors, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives. Network extensively within the construction industry and attend relevant events, trade shows, and conferences to increase visibility and create new leads. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and potential areas for business expansion. Develop and manage a pipeline of opportunities, ensuring that the business consistently achieves growth targets.

Client Relationship Management:

Manage and nurture key client relationships, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and retention. Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, objectives, and project goals, providing tailored solutions to meet their needs. Present and negotiate with clients to secure contracts and maintain long-term relationships. Collaborate with internal teams (project managers, estimators, design teams) to develop competitive proposals and bids.

Tendering & Proposal Management:

Coordinate the preparation of proposals, tenders, and presentations for both commercial and residential projects. Work with the estimating and operations teams to ensure proposals are commercially competitive and meet client requirements. Review contract terms and assist with negotiations to ensure favorable outcomes for both the company and the client.

Market Strategy & Reporting:

Develop and implement market strategies to increase brand presence and capture new business opportunities. Provide detailed and accurate business development reports, including forecasts and performance metrics. Monitor and analyze sales performance and adjust strategies as needed to achieve targets.

Collaborative Approach:

Collaborate with senior management, marketing, and project teams to ensure that business development activities align with the company’s overall objectives and project pipeline. Support the wider team with commercial insights and feedback from potential clients.

Essential Skills & Experience: Proven track record in business development, sales, or a similar role within the construction industry (both commercial and residential). Experience working with clients in the construction, development, or property sectors. Strong understanding of the UK construction market, particularly in the areas of commercial and residential development. Core Skills: Strong business acumen with a focus on sales and strategic growth. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence clients. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (CRM software experience discretionary). Strong presentation skills with experience presenting to senior stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Attributes: Ability to develop creative business development strategies. In-depth knowledge of the UK construction landscape, with a focus on both commercial and residential markets. Established network of contacts within the construction, development, and property sectors. Strong attention to detail and a proactive, results-driven mindset.
