Our many services include general forwarding by sea, air, road and land, customs brokerage, haulage and warehousing, imports and exports to and from any UK port to any destination worldwide.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Development Manager to join our team in the Midlands or Manchester.
Job Description
Identify and develop new international business opportunities across a range of market sectors via air and ocean to/from all areas of the world. Experience in USA/Far East markets is an advantage. The role includes contractual negotiations along with involvement in the implementation process, continued client contact, and further development of other lanes of traffic. Generate and follow up on sales leads to a successful conclusion.
Regular sales calls to new and current clients to develop a pipeline of business that can be converted into tangible business for the company.
Principal Accountabilities/Tasks
Ensure that potential clients are profitable and margins are maximised via quotes and tenders.
Plan and implement a program of visits to existing and potential clients.
Maintain your own existing portfolio of accounts.
Provide information on market opportunities and competitor activity to assist in the development of products and marketing plans.
Develop a list of potential Target Accounts who have regular business which can be approached throughout the year as the backbone of all sales activities.
Provide technical support to clients, liaising as necessary with technical advice and guidance.
Identify sales opportunities and negotiate within established policies to obtain orders which meet sales objectives covering volume mix and margins.
Achieve target revenues as set out by the company.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Highly numerate and literate.
Excellent understanding of Import/Export procedures and principles.
Ability to quote both ocean and air import and export including surcharges is an advantage.
Target appropriate companies, monitor sector activity, and arrange client visits in a methodical manner.
Proven track record of winning new business and retaining/expanding existing business.
Produce accurate monthly target revenue reports plus Weekly Sales Plans via Outlook.
Track record of achieving sales targets.
Preparation of tenders, responding to and completion of tenders is a requirement.
PC skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Confident, articulate, and well presented.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
An understanding of the HMRC regime is an advantage.
Experience in using PowerPoint presentations.
