The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running and technical development of the Trust’s BI system, developing and managing data flows into and out of the trust. They will lead on technical development improvements, designing and building systems in adherence with the software Development Life Cycle. The focus of this role is ensuring the Business Intelligence system and the products developed within it are supported from a technical perspective. This involves leading a database administration function, working with IT and third parties who supply hardware infrastructure to ensure the system can support growth in the number of products, developing data structures such as Extract Transform and Load processes and Cubes, and exploring and developing new systems such as mobile business intelligence, new web platforms, and new database systems. The post holder will also lead on change control and business intelligence support, developing and managing a robust change control process to ensure that changes to the database architecture or the source systems do not adversely impact the accuracy of Business Intelligence outputs. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in the business intelligence field with a focus on database administration and will have at least 2 years of managerial experience. Technical Skills Required: Design and develop business and analytical reports. SQL Server objects: t-SQL, stored procedures, views. SQL Server Reporting Services objects. ASP.NET web applications with C# backend. Soft Skills Required: Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience. Ability to devise best practice principles and lead on their implementation. Demonstrates a proactive approach and 'customer-focused' thinking. Advise the team on suitable technologies for use in applications. Ability to manage, lead, and develop a team of technical analysts. Main Duties: Hardware Support:

Ensure that the hardware in place supports the demand being placed on BI Systems. Support ICT in the procurement, installation, and testing of new hardware ensuring the needs of the department are met. Database Architecture:

Lead on the design of the Business Intelligence System’s architecture, setting standards for data flow processes and identifying technical solutions to meet BI Developer requirements. Software:

Investigate new technologies and assess their suitability for adoption within the department. Application Development:

Put in place any data collections that might be required outside of existing systems, e.g., HTML forms or new third-party data collection applications. Change Control:

Develop a robust change control process to ensure that changes to the database architecture or the source systems do not adversely impact the accuracy of Business Intelligence outputs. Business Intelligence Support:

Lead the Business Intelligence support function to respond to customer requests for fixes or changes to existing Business Intelligence products. Please refer to the job description and personal specification for full details. Person specification

Qualification & Experience

Computer Science Degree or 10 years equivalent experience. Ability to communicate in different forms with stakeholders. Ability to work autonomously and manage own time. Planning and organisational skills. Self-motivated and able to act on own initiative. Knowledge and understanding of GDPR. Understanding of Clinical Information/Patient Management Systems or equivalent systems. Skills/Technical Knowledge

Working with Data (SQL Server). Developing Reports (SSRS). Developing ETL Packages (SSIS). Use of development lifecycle. Use of Source Version Control, e.g., Git. Working in a DevOps environment.
