Are you an experienced Buyer/ Stock Controller with a passion for fresh food produce? We're seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team in a key commercial role.

About the Role As a Buyer/Stock Controller, you will play a crucial part in ensuring stock levels meet weekly and seasonal demands while maintaining product quality and building strong supplier relationships. Working closely with the commercial team, you'll handle stock control, procurement, pricing updates, and supplier negotiations to keep competitive in the market.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct daily stock taking and reconcile with the internal system. Monitor product availability and expedite overdue deliveries. Prepare weekly price lists and special offer sheets to reflect stock changes. Negotiate pricing and build long-term partnerships with suppliers. Ensure inbound deliveries meet product specifications and manage quality assurance issues. Promote the sale of short shelf-life items and minimise stock losses. Plan and place weekly purchasing requirements, adapting to changing demands. Maintain accurate purchase orders and buying schedules.

Your Skills & Experience

Proven experience in controlling fresh food produce (meat knowledge is a plus). Strong negotiation and buying skills. Hands-on, self-motivated, and adaptable team player. IT literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (strong Excel is essential). Knowledge of warehouse stock control (e.g., FIFO) and daily stock-taking. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
