About the role The Councils Calibration Services laboratory proudly holds UKAS Accreditation for both mass calibrations ( 25kg to 1mg ) and for bulk flow ( 35 to 5000 Litres Per Minute ). As one of the few remaining Local Authority based metrology laboratories still running, our successful Calibration Services department are held in high regard by our global customers spread across a range of Local Authority and Commercial business sectors. You will be leading our dedicated calibration team colleagues in the testing and calibration of weighing and measuring equipment across the full range of mass, length, volume and pressure. If you have experience of managing a Calibration laboratory, have previously worked within a Calibration laboratory and are looking for the next step in your career; if you have a keen interest in legal metrology or have worked in the metrology sector as an engineer or similar, we would really like to hear from you. Key Requirements include: To manage our Calibration team and the laboratory to ensure the delivery of a profitable team plan. Be our subject expert in the field of calibration and to develop best practice systems. To maintain our UKAS accreditation by following operating procedures and take remedial action following any recommendations from internal or external audits. Have a keen eye for detail and produce quotations for calibration customers; provide accurate test certificates / reports after calibration in a timely manner. Additional Information The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required.
