South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust We are looking for a Qualified non-medical prescriber to work in our warm and friendly Wandsworth Tier 3 CAMHS service, which now resides within the fresh new Trinity (CAMHS outpatients) and Shaftesbury building (CAMHS staff office) at Springfield hospital.

Clinically, the post holder will manage a highly specialist service for children and young people with ADHD and co-morbid mental health difficulties, contributing to specialist assessment & management and leading on co-ordinating the Nurse-led medication review clinics within the service, including independent non-medical prescribing.

Main duties of the job We value inclusivity in our service and are actively working in partnership with community organisations (e.g., Wandsworth Community Empowerment Network) to reach young people who find 'traditional' routes of mental health services not accessible to them. Wandsworth T3 CAMHS serves a diverse London borough of young people and families presenting with a variety of complex needs such as low mood, anxiety-based disorders including OCD, trauma, and difficulties with emotional regulation. The post holder will work as part of a busy T3 CAMHS team in Community CAMHS and will be expected to manage all aspects of the ADHD clinic including waiting list, assessment, and intervention processes. The post holder will be required to contribute to teaching, training, and support of team members and will work closely with other members of the ADHD team.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world-class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops, and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

Job responsibilities Clinical

To lead the provision and delivery of the nurse-led ADHD clinic provided by SWLSTG.

To be a highly specialist practitioner within the assessment, treatment, and pharmacological management of CYP with ADHD and co-morbid mental health and/or neuropsychiatric difficulties, assuming responsibility for own caseload.

To work as an independent and autonomous professional within professional guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, taking full responsibility for own work.

To provide primary CAMHS assessments, other specialist assessments, using self-report measures, as appropriate, structured observations, clinical interviews, and to interpret and integrate this highly complex data to identify and diagnose the cause of emotional and behavioral problems in C&YP.

To formulate mental healthcare and crisis treatment plans that are specific to each C&YP and family, based upon an analysis of complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes contributing to the presentation. To assess safeguarding issues for each case, consulting with other professionals and referring concerns to the appropriate safeguarding team as required.

To deliver evidence-based treatments, monitoring outcomes and modifying and adapting interventions drawing on a range of theoretical options.

To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans in conjunction with the C&YP, parents/carers, and other services as appropriate.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry and recording.

To ensure that all services provided are acceptable and accessible to the diverse communities which make up the catchment area of the service.

To function as care coordinator for a range of cases including high risk and extremely complex, ensuring the provision of a care package appropriate for the client needs, coordinating the work of others involved, and to monitor progress in the course of multidisciplinary interventions.

Professional leadership.

To provide strategic nursing input at senior level across SWLSTG CAMHS, ensuring effective advice to the Borough manager, Lead Clinician, and other management team.

To provide visible nursing leadership to nurses within the service, offering professional and practical advice and support, ensuring standards of nursing are consistent.

To ensure systems are in place to provide nursing supervision across SWLSTG CAMHS which supports professional development.

To support the CAG Head of Nursing with the implementation of the Trust wide Nursing Strategy across the local service.

To contribute to the workforce development of nurses locally, supporting recruitment activities and ensuring educational opportunities are available both pre and post qualification.

Teaching, training, and supervision.

To receive regular clinical and professional supervision from a more senior clinician according to Trust guidelines.

To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within the nursing staff and SWLSTG CAMHS.

To provide professional clinical and research supervision as well as managerial supervision to qualified nursing staff and students for all aspects of their work.

To provide placements to student nurses as required.

To provide advice, consultation, training, and supervision to staff and parents/carers within CAMHS network across a range of settings including primary care, social services, education, residential units, and family homes.

Management, recruitment, policy, and service development.

To identify any aspects of the service which need to be improved and to advise service and professional managers on appropriate changes.

To assist in the short-listing and interviewing of multidisciplinary staff as required.

To participate in clinical governance initiatives as agreed by the Trust and CAG clinical governance committee and to act as clinical governance link worker as agreed.

To deputize for the Borough manager when required and to represent the team at borough and SLAM level when needed.

To undertake Serious Incident investigations as required by the CAG.

Research and service evaluation.

To contribute to the development of services for SWLSTG CAMHS through initiating and undertaking service evaluation and audit.

To undertake computer-based literature reviews and carry out research relevant to the service in general and provide advice and supervision to other staff undertaking these.

Person Specification Training & Qualifications

First level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RSCN or HV) / with related CAMHS experience and MSc level qualification or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio of post registration.

Professional development in child and adolescent mental health including evidence of clinical, audit and/or research presentations at local and national CAMHS events and evidence of publication of articles or the production of strategic reports which have advanced CAMHS.

All applications will require professional registration with a statutory body e.g. the Nursing Midwifery Council, General Social care council, Health professional's council or applicable psychological or psychotherapies body.

Non-medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration.

Formal training in supervision.

Additional specialist post qualification training such as ADOS; SAVRY; ADI; CAI; Fostering Changes; Parent / Child Game.

Experience

MSc qualification related to or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio including experience of specialist mental health assessment and treatment with children and young people with mental health difficulties, emotional, behavioral and relational problems and their families, including looked after children.

Minimum of 12 months experience working as a non-medical prescriber with a CAMHS service.

Experience of managing complex and high-risk cases.

Experience of consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff.

Experience of providing teaching and training to multidisciplinary groups.

Experience of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Experience of developing and carrying out research projects with troubled children and young people.

Experience of supervision of other staff.

Experience of clinical leadership and providing clinical support for practitioners across disciplines including recruitment, supervision and appraisal.

Experience of multi-agency collaboration and integrated working.
