We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Highly Specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) psychological practitioner to join the Gloucestershire CAMHS Harmful Sexual Behaviour Team. Applicants will need to have a relevant qualification in Clinical/Forensic Psychology with significant experience in the psychological aspects of working with children and adolescents with mental health problems/needs. The successful candidate will provide a highly specialist clinical mental health service to the CAMHS HSB team with specific responsibility for Specialist Assessment, including AIM (under 12 & over 12); Specialist Treatment; specialist Consultation both within CAMHS and to Partner Agencies in County; Evaluation and outcome monitoring of team activities. The practitioner will contribute to further service and policy development with opportunities for research and service evaluation. They will be a valued member of the CAMHS Complex and Vulnerable Children's Team offering senior clinical input to the multidisciplinary team. To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within the HSB Team by maintaining an active awareness of current developments in the field of sexually harmful behaviour and by implementing knowledge gained in practice. To work as a member of the child safeguarding network with multi-agency partners to formulate multiagency risk management plans to minimise risk of further harmful sexual behaviour. Contribute to relevant Psychological activities, and meet as required with Psychology colleagues. To be responsible for promoting the psychological health and well-being of children and families in a designated locality or team within the Trust. To directly provide and coordinate highly specialist psychological consultation, assessment and intervention services to individuals/groups/organisations, using a variety of applied psychology models. To clinically supervise junior clinicians in the MDT, and to supervise/provide substantial support to pre-qualified psychological therapies staff as required by the relevant professional lead and where appropriate provide placements and supervision to Doctoral Clinical Psychology trainees. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development. To be named Care Co-ordinator for designated clients. Person Specification
Qualifications
Post Graduate Doctoral level training in Applied Psychology, as accredited by the BPS. Registered as Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Evidence of formal post graduate learning within a relevant CYPS/CAMHS field or skill. Membership of specialist interest groups relevant to client group. Experience
Experience of maintaining working relationships and a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical aggression. Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the NHS. Evidence of maintaining effective communication when there are barriers to understanding and in circumstances where hostility, manipulation, conflict, and antagonism are present. Advanced experience of mental health assessment, formulation and treatment/intervention of children with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in child and adolescent mental health, including working within a positive risk management model of practice within either a mental health or learning disability setting. Evidence in application of Psychological knowledge to improve and develop practice in work to date. Receipt of at least 25 hours clinical supervision while working at a highly specialist level in a directly relevant area and in an increasingly autonomous capacity. Care co-ordination with children with highly vulnerable children and young people with complex, multi-agency needs. Experience of providing psychological and specialist CAMHS related consultation/training and advice to partner agencies. Extensive experience of providing CAMHS related clinical supervision. Experience of using the AIM suite of HSB assessment tools. Experience of using other specialist assessment tools such as SAVRY; SAPROF; ADOS.
