A Day in the Life in a CAMHS Team: As a CAMHS Practitioner, a day typically starts with a team briefing to discuss caseload updates, risk concerns, and priorities for the day. The morning may involve reviewing case notes and conducting assessments or therapy sessions with children, young people, and their families, focusing on issues such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. Afternoons often include writing up clinical notes, liaising with schools, social services, or other professionals, and managing safeguarding concerns. There’s also time set aside for supervision, team collaboration, and professional development to ensure the best possible care is provided. Throughout the day, the practitioner balances clinical work with the administrative demands of maintaining accurate records and managing risks.

Required: Current and valid registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). Proven experience in working within CAMHS is highly desirable. Previous band 7 experience Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. A compassionate and empathetic approach to care, with a strong commitment to improving young people's mental health and well-being. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally. Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques is advantageous.

Desirable: Experience in managing patients with complex mental health needs in a community setting An understanding of safeguarding and risk management in a CAMHS environment.
