Job summary The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. We are looking for a confident CAMHS professional, with experience of providing evidence-based interventions. You will be a CYP mental health practitioner (Family & Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Educational Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Registered Nurse / Social Worker/ Senior CWP or EMHP). Main duties of the job The Luton MHST will be working to reduce health inequalities in communities where these are most prominent, working closely with the schools and other external partners addressing their most prominent needs, by implementing whole schools approaches and targeted interventions. Luton is a very diverse locality, with high levels of the young population having English as an additional language. In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in schools, the post holder will supervise more junior colleagues. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Family & Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Educational Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) / Social Worker / Art Therapist/ EMHP/CWP Senior EMHPs/CWPs with advanced post-qualification experience. All applicants must be BABCP accredited or eligible to apply for accreditation within 6 months Appropriate level of qualification for your profession, PG Diploma, BSc, Masters Desirable Post-graduate training or experience to support the needs of different children, young people and their families Mentor/Practice Educator qualification Experience Essential Experience of working with CYP across the full age-range (5-18) Experience of delivering low-intensity interventions for challenging behaviours in children, child/young person anxiety and/or young person low mood Experience of working directly with senior leadership teams in service context ( education, health, VCSE) to support design and delivery of programmes, policy, pathways, support offers, etc. Desirable Recognising when core interventions are appropriate for neurodiverse CYP and being able to make necessary adaptations Experience of delivering low intensity interventions for OCD Experience of providing interventions for emotionally-based school avoidance Skills Essential Experience and skills of giving appropriate constructive feedback to professional colleagues at a range of levels in the system, and of following necessary procedures when required Able to manage own time and caseload Desirable Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments Teaching skills, both in clinical setting and education centres Knowledge Essential Understanding of an overarching, multi-component Whole School Approach, and how elements of this interact with one another A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback A knowledge of CAMHS issues, including assessment and interventions Desirable Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts Knowledge of developments in inter-agency partnership
