To plan and prioritise own workload including responsibilities for patient care, training and other professional responsibilities. To be able to work using a high level of skill and knowledge as an independent practitioner. Decide daily on priorities for own work area balancing patient related and professional demands. Contribute to task and finish groups as required. Complete allocated projects and meet deadlines. Record patient activity data. Provide supervision for band 6 Mental Health Dietitians working across the directorate, including agreeing annual leave and cover for the team and travel claims. Deliver training to mental health staff on nutritional issues as required. Contribute to the training of pre-registration dietetic students on clinical placement (subject to six months post-registration experience) by: Participating in the development and revision of the training programme. Acting as a role model. Undertaking clinical supervision, tutorials, feedback and assessment. Contribute to the development of educational resources, which are evidence based and acceptable to patients and carers. Contribute to the development of mental health dietetic care pathways, assessment tools, care plans and other resources that support patient care. Education/Qualifications
MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate training / experience in specialist clinical dietetics. Registered as a dietitian with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). Evidence of further professional development. Attainment of validated post-registration qualification in defined highly specialised clinical area e.g. diabetes, nutrition support, mental health, eating disorders. Experience
Experience of managing a dietetic case load. Experience working as an integral member of an MDT to deliver patient and organisational objectives. Significant experience of working with a broad range of patients across a variety of clinical settings. Experience in training student dietitians. Experience of working with patients with CAMHS, eating disorders and other common mental illnesses. Knowledge
High level of knowledge of nutrition and dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy. Knowledge of eating disorders, the comorbidities and the nutritional needs of sufferers. Knowledge of mental health problems affecting young people such as eating disorders, psychosis, depression and self-harm and their associated comorbidities and nutritional needs.
