Band 5 - Permanent Role - Full Time 37.5 hours per week An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cancer Services Team for a Band 5 Team Leader to support the Multi-Disciplinary Coordinators and Patient Pathway Coordinators. The main focus of this role will be to provide the day to day supervision and management of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinators/Patient Pathway Coordinator (PPC) Team. You will work closely with Clinicians, Specialist Nurses, Secretaries and all members of the MDT team and associated departments. Experience of working within the Cancer Services team, alongside an in depth knowledge of Cancer targets would be ideal for this role. Candidates must have excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal skills and possess the ability to have difficult conversations in challenging environments. Main duties of the job Monitoring Patient Progress Multi-Disciplinary Team Role Data Collection / Processing Communication Quality and Service Delivery Job description Job responsibilities To provide day to day supervision and management of the Multi-Disciplinary Team Co-ordinator (MDTC) / Patient Pathway Coordinator (PPC) team. To work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses, secretaries and all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) and associated departments, to ensure that patients on a cancer pathway are proactively and in a timely manner managed along their pathway. To co-ordinate the patient journey from referral, through diagnostics, treatment planning and treatment, highlighting any potential delays in the pathway promptly. To ensure accurate data collection on Somerset in accordance with local and national requirements i.e. Cancer Waiting Times (CWT), Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD, national cancer audits etc. To highlight relevant patients for discussion at the Multi-Disciplinary Meeting (MDT) and to ensure that the MDT coordinator (MDTC) receives all relevant information for the patients to be discussed. To provide absence cover for any member of the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator (PPC) or MDTC team as required. To maintain up to date knowledge of all cancer targets and processes relating to cancer pathway management and to work closely with the Cancer Analyst to accurately collect data on Somerset Cancer Register for submission upload. To maintain awareness of Trust policies relating to the post and to fulfil mandatory training requirements as determined by the Trust. Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential GCSE or equivalent in English or Mathematics Excellent computer skills (ECDL/ ITQ level 2 or equivalent) Degree level or equivalent experience in a Team Leader role Knowledge and Experience Essential Previous experience working in administration/secretarial capacity in NHS or healthcare setting Experience of using computerised data systems and / or patient tracking systems Desirable Previous Experience of working in Cancer Services Previous experience as an MDTC / PPC Skills and Knowledge Essential IT skills/understanding of NHS information systems - knowledge of working with MS office, especially Excel and IPM or equivalent Good attention to detail and methodical in approach to work Good time management and ability to work under pressure Personal qualities: flexible, motivated, excellent communication skills used to dealing with diverse range of personnel, calm, resourceful, reliable and enthusiastic, good team player, polite/respectful Employer details Employer name : James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Address : James Paget University Hospital, Lowestoft Road, Gorleston on Sea, Great Yarmouth, NR31 6LA Any attachments will be accessible after you click to apply.
