Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

to join our expert team in the Cardiac Device Service at the Cardiology Suite, RFT. In this exciting and challenging role, you will provide expert, independent support in the implantation and follow-up of a full range of implantable cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices, and implantable loop recorders.

About the Role:

As a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality care to patients requiring cardiac devices. Working closely with the

Cardiac Device Lead

and a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the assessment, programming, and follow-up of cardiac devices, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.

Your expertise will be critical in analyzing and interpreting complex data from various cardiac assessments, and you will make important clinical decisions that impact patient outcomes. You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the department, including coordinating device clinics and contributing to the overall management of the Cardiac Physiology Service.

You will also participate in on-call rotas, covering a 24-hour, 365-day service to ensure that patients across South Yorkshire receive timely and specialist cardiac device care. This may involve working across different sites, including

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust , hospices, and patient homes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide independent support in the implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices

Analyze and interpret complex cardiac data to inform clinical decision-making

Collaborate with the Cardiac Device Lead to ensure the smooth running of the Cardiac Physiology Service

Train and supervise junior physiologists and multidisciplinary healthcare staff

Participate in clinical audits and research projects to support service improvement

Maintain up-to-date knowledge in cardiac rhythm management and ensure continuous professional development

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a

qualified Cardiac Physiologist

with significant experience in cardiac device management. You will have a postgraduate qualification in

Cardiac Rhythm Management

(such as

BHRS

or

IBHRE Accreditation ) and be registered with either

RCCP

or

HCPC .

You will have extensive knowledge and experience in a wide range of cardiac investigations and device programming, alongside the ability to work independently and flexibly within a busy clinical environment. Your technical skills, combined with a compassionate approach to patient care, will ensure that you make a positive impact on the lives of our patients.

Essential Requirements:

MSc Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent in Cardiac Physiology

Registration with

RCCP

or

HCPC

Postgraduate accreditation in Cardiac Rhythm Management (BHRS or IBHRE)

Extensive experience in cardiac device implantation and follow-up

Excellent analytical and communication skills
