This is an exciting opportunity to work as a specialist Support Worker within the Disabilities Team, to support children and adults who have Autism. Main duties will include working with children and adults who have a diagnosis of Autism and ensuring that their voices are heard and are able to feel part of the community in which they live. It will be expected of you to have good communication skills and the ability to be organised, as setting up support groups and activity sessions will form part of this role. There will also be some 1:1 working with children and adults to help develop their personal and independent skills, such as cooking, cleaning, or developing their independent travelling skills. Successful applicants will need a basic understanding of the Social Services and Well-Being (Wales) Act 2014 and experience of working with children and adults with disabilities. An understanding of the Autism code of practice will also be needed.
