Job Description
Key responsibilities
To provide safe, reliable, compassionate care and support to meet the individual needs & wishes of the residents
Respect the unique nature of each resident in relation to their choices on how they wish to be cared for & supported
Support residents' dignity at all times
Report any changes or cause for concern to the Nurse/ Team Leader immediately
Support new staff to assist them to integrate into the team in a positive way
Work within the code of conduct for SSSC at all times
Main Duties
Observe Cramond Residence Policies & procedures at all times
Be a keyworker for a number of residents and participate with them in drawing up person-centred care plans
Deliver all aspects of personal care in an anti-dissimilatory way which respects the whole person and is in line with their personal preferences
Support the resident to eat & drink in line with their care plan
Safely use aids & personal equipment in a manner that respects the dignity of the resident
Ensure residents have all sensory aids such as glasses which are clean & hearing aids which are working & turned on where these are required
Assist the resident to attend/participate in activity both physical & mental
Support the resident to continue with hobbies or activities of interest as they wish
Support residents through temporary or terminal illness, including end of life, hospital appointments and liaising with community health professionals & family members
Assist key people to settle in and adjust to life in the Care Home
Assist new staff to settle into the workplace and act as a mentor
Record and report
The care and support you provide at the time of delivery - keeping clear and concise records
Report any changes in the residents' condition or other concerns with them to Nurse or Team Leader
Respond to emergencies, accidents, incidents and safeguarding issues in line with policy and procedure
Contact family members, other professionals, or representatives as required
Keep all information about residents & their families secure & confidential except where policy requires you to share this to protect the interests of the resident or others
Take part in staff and resident meetings
Attend training activities, supervision & appraisal meetings
Hours of work
38.5 hours per week (77 hours over a two-week rolling shift rotation, working three nights one week, four nights the next week)
20:00 - 08:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two unpaid 15-minute breaks
