Chef What does a care home Chef do? In general, working in a care home kitchen means
being part of a small team preparing and serving meals to the residents of the home . You need to be aware of good nutrition and be able to cater for special dietary requirements, which are more common among the older community. Requirements: 12+ months experience as head chef. Chef certifications or years of experience cooking English-based food and running a kitchen. Ability to cook for 30+ people in one sitting. Capability to cook from fresh produce and prepare English-style dishes. Availability to work from 6 AM to 6 PM. Ability to cook on the spot if a patient does not like what is offered. Comfortable with IDDSI training (training will be provided). Ability to work with 1 or 2 kitchen assistants (KAs). Ability to bake cakes and pastries. Additional Experience:
Some experience working in a catering environment is preferred. Schedule: Can work between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (generally 8–10-hour shifts). Other Requirements: Right to work in the UK and can commit to 12+ months. Enhanced DBS (can be applied for). Availability to work 20 - 30+ hours per week.
