Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an Extra care Housing setting. Cowan Court enables individuals to reach their full potential using a personal centred approach.

The jobholder must have a SVQ2 in Care, Direct Care or equivalent. If the jobholder does not have this qualification they may obtain it once in role within 3 years. S/he will be encouraged and assisted to achieve such qualification via in-house training during their normal working day. Registration with the SSSC is expected within 6 months of starting in post.

Jobholder must have basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand written instructions and be able to collect pensions, spend cash when shopping for clients, etc. S/he also requires domestic experience of undertaking a range of household tasks and be aware of the roles of other people in the provision of care (e.g., relatives, friends, children, other health professionals, etc.). S/he will need to be able to work without direct supervision and have a responsible and self-reliant approach with the ability to respond to unplanned situations in a calm and flexible manner.

Working Pattern: TBC

Weeks per year: 52 weeks per year

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 17.5 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £13,176.76 per annum.

Responsibilities This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
