Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking suitably skilled applicants to join our team as a Part-time Career Medical Officer. This role is up to 21 hours per fortnight with the successful applicant being able to work on a regular Saturday shift. The ideal candidate would also have the flexibility to assist in picking up ad-hoc shifts as required.
The position is supported by the ICU CMO team and will be responsible for providing medical support to the consultants and nursing staff who work within the hospital with the aim of assisting with improving clinical outcomes and patient management.
Your responsibilities:
The CMO is responsible for the immediate day to day medical care of inpatients (including post surgical patients, cardiac patients, medical patients and maternity patients) at the hospital and providing evidence based medical care to patients of varying ages and cultural groups within the Hospital.
Current Medical Practitioner AHPRA Registration
PGY5 or more
Current Advanced Life Support certification
Ability to identify deteriorating patient and provide immediate resuscitation
Team player with excellent clinical assessment and communication skills
Demonstrated flexibility and organisational skills
Possession of NSW driver’s licence.
Good general medical skills including acute and geriatric medicine (including simple procedures such as cannulation, venepuncture, arterial puncture)
Prior experience in Critical care / ICU medicine desirable.
