The job itself

The Carer Relief service supports people living with dementia and their carers within the community. This service allows the carer to have quality time away from their caring role. The length of support can be either a couple of hours or a full day depending on the carer's needs. The Carer's Emergency Cover is a crucial part of the service. You will be supporting the cared-for person to remain in their own home environment in the event of the carer being taken out of their caring role due to an unplanned emergency. We are recruiting for positions that will cover the whole of the East Riding; therefore, it is essential that you can drive and have a car accessible when at work. You will be contracted to work 20 hours a week as a Carer Response Worker covering priority and social sits. This equates to 4 shifts on a 7-day rolling rota. In addition to the 20 hours, you are expected to take part in the on-call rota, which can be a maximum of 12 hours known as Emergency Standby. This attracts a standby allowance, plus additional pay for all hours worked when called out. If you feel you can make a difference to vulnerable people and their carers living in their own homes, and you are caring, enthusiastic, and motivated, then this job is for you. We are deeply committed to providing training and development opportunities and offering opportunities for career development along with a range of other benefits including: 2 x 20 hours per week plus a standby 1 x 13 hours per week plus a standby IPAD, mobile phone, and a lone working monitoring system called Orbis Paid travel miles (details to be discussed at interview) Business User allowance which will give you a lump sum each month to maintain your car (approx £80) A uniform Paid Holidays and Bank Holidays Access to Local Government Pension Fund Health and Wellbeing Support including Wellbeing Hub for all staff Employee Assistance Programme Eye Care Voucher Scheme Health Cash Plan Leisure Centre Membership Discounts Shop and Save discount scheme
