Blank This post is part of a relatively new service created in order to make a real difference in young people’s lives and educational life chances. If you are a confident, persuasive, diplomatic and creative individual – read on. Your caseload will comprise of a small number of pupils who are already open to more than one support agency and are at potential risk of a future exclusion from school, disengagement, poor attendance, becoming NEET or all of the above. The role will involve meeting with the school, family and young person to understand what and where the barriers lie. Once understood, you will work with other service providers and agencies, both internal and external to the council, in order to remove those barriers to provide a coordinated and collective approach. You will need to muster your best persuasive and diplomatic skills in order to drive momentum and progress with other services/agencies championing the young person you are working with that will support and bring about positive outcomes for that pupil. You will need to develop creative ideas for engagement as one size fits all is definitely not the path you will take here. Innovative and alternative routes for success will need to be considered and found for each of your cases in order to achieve success. You will draft an action plan outlining those needs with recommendations of how they can be accomplished. Experience of working with schools and improving the outcomes of young people is essential for this post, along with the ability to challenge others using your skills of tact and diplomacy. You must have a full driving licence and the ability to travel extensively around the County Borough. Occasionally you will be required to travel to meetings outside of the immediate area. Alternatively, should you not possess a driving licence or vehicle; you should have the ability to travel for business purposes without unreasonable disruption to the requirements of the post. Welsh language skills are not necessary; however, will be an advantage. Neath Port Talbot Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will need to be educated to degree level or possess equivalent occupational experience. If you think that you have the necessary experience and qualifications for this role, we would love to hear from you. For an informal discussion, please contact:
