Utilise analytical thinking and other recognized analytical tools and techniques to deliver insightful, robust, and actionable analysis. Meet Category, Insight, Sales, and other business requirements for timely, accurate, and comprehensive Category analysis and subsequent reporting. Understand and meet existing or emerging reporting (and business planning) cycles and deadlines. Create imaginative, influential, and well-structured business presentations and infographics for internal and external audiences (including retail customers). Develop expertise in data agency and retailer-driven data systems e.g. IRI, Kantar, Dunnhumby, SIP (Nectar), Quantium. Support promotional calendars and create a range review calendar (aligned to NPD briefs).
Data Management
Maintain (to 100% accuracy) our continuous market research databases. Resolve any areas of conflict and manage then conclude all data reconciliation between agencies. Utilise Dunnhumby and SIP knowledge to provide clear Category and shopper insight, becoming the “go-to” person for shopper-related queries. Manage (and challenge) expectations around data delivery and reporting (internal customers and external providers).
Category Management
Support the Head of Category by delivering in-depth analysis, insights, recommendations, and thought leadership: Range reviews, ad-hoc category reviews, and NPD briefs. Gain NPD listings through compelling storytelling. Refresh the current Category drivers – enabling the business to become more format (online, convenience) focused and led.
Space Planning
Understand and implement creative ways of bringing to life planograms.
Required Skills Excellent numerical and verbal reasoning capability. Significant experience managing, comparing, and understanding multiple data points, then troubleshooting obvious disconnects. Good communication (including formal presentation), relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills gained in a fast-paced commercial environment. Proven influencing and “selling” skills – an aptitude for compelling report writing. Successful project/activity management of multiple, often conflicting, requirements and deadlines. Commercial insight, particularly when recommending new approaches or investment in new data sources. An understanding of retail, sales, and how FMCG organizations work. A solid track record of delivery. Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, to advanced level. Preferred: FMCG or previous food production/food retail exposure.
