We are seeking 2 experienced, enthusiastic, creative and motivated Catering Managers to manage the catering service at two of our Net Academy schools in Harlow.
You will be joining an award-winning contract caterer with a reputation for innovation and a background built on strong ethics and an ongoing commitment to improving school meals.
You will manage and be part of a team, and work closely with the school, ensuring that standards are achieved and maintained.
You will be confident in your craft cooking skills, striving to push the boundaries of school food to the highest standards, ensuring the children are offered imaginative, flexible and nutritious meals.
You will be able to demonstrate skills in team management, training, budget control, reporting, service improvement, customer relations and marketing with attention to detail.
We want someone with creativity and passion to help us enhance the overall dining experience in the school. We include calendar events and celebrations throughout the year with a food themed twist, so you will need to be organised, plan ahead and proactive with your ideas and creations.
Minimum Requirements:
a solid background in catering within a commercial environment and, ideally, in an educational setting
experience of managing others
a sound and up to date knowledge of food safety procedures
an understanding of nutrition and, ideally, knowledge of government food standards for school meals
a genuine interest and a desire to challenge perceptions of school meals
excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with children, parents, school staff and colleagues confidently and successfully
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food preparation and cooking meet quality standards.
Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Implement and uphold food safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a safe kitchen.
Plan and prepare nutritious meals, accommodating dietary restrictions as needed.
Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure catering needs are met.
Monitor inventory and order supplies to maintain kitchen efficiency.
Salary:
£14.00 per hour Hours of work:
30 per week, Term Time Only (36.8 weeks pa + 5.6 weeks paid leave to be taken during the school holidays) Candidates must be prepared to obtain an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) disclosure which is satisfactory to both Ashlyns and the school and be rechecked throughout their employment.
