Crowden OEC, located in the Peak District National Park, delivers high-quality outdoor educational residential visits to schools and groups from across the country. Our catering service is consistently rated as exceeding expectations. We are looking for an individual who can drive the service forward while continuing to deliver a consistently high standard to our guests. Following the retirement of our current provider, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Catering Manager to develop an efficient, high-quality service at Crowden Outdoor Education Centre. We are seeking an individual who can maintain the very best standards of catering provision for the service. The service provides full board catering services for up to 48 residential guests, predominantly primary-aged school groups, with a number of adult and corporate customers throughout the season. The post holder will manage a rota for two cooks in charge to ensure a high-quality service is consistently delivered. The kitchen manager will work hands-on with the team on a rotation of Breakfast and Evening meal services to meet the business needs. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the seasonal needs of the service, with our peak periods between May – July and September to November. The post is annualised 1000 hours per year (average 25 hours per week over 40 weeks); this is a permanent salaried post. Access to a vehicle for commuting is essential due to the remote location of the centre with no public transport provision locally. The ideal candidate will have: Relevant experience in a supervisory capacity of catering provision, including menu planning, stock control systems, controlling a food and/or other budgets, and staff supervision. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience. Ability to prepare and cook food to a high standard. Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. Experience in the recruitment and selection of staff. Willingness and ability to undertake on-the-job training. Good knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, and Fire Regulations.
