Job overview Contract Type - Permanent We are seeking to recruit Band 5 1st Level Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners with current NMC registration / HCPC registration to the post in Anaesthetic Care Unit at Scarborough Hospital. Our area is committed to providing a high standard of patient care over two sites (Scarborough and Bridlington) covering a variety of specialities. Our surgical specialties include: Maxillofacial, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, Upper GI, Orthopaedics as well as Acutes and Trauma. We welcome applicants from both experienced and newly qualified ODPs / Nurses / anaesthetic nurses. You do not need any additional qualifications to be eligible for this post, but hold passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to provide patient-centred care. A positive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research evidence. A willingness to supervise and teach junior staff and colleagues and share learning through clinical supervision. The ability to work as an integral member of the team. Main duties of the job Maintain a high standard of patient-focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient. Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct. Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands. Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures. Person specification Qualifications Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification. Teaching qualification. NVQ assessor. Willingness to train as a mentor. Experience Previous theatre experience at Band 5. Knowledge Demonstrate awareness of current issues in health care. Demonstrate awareness of NHS standards of Professional Practice. Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Demonstrates awareness of evidence-based practice within a Theatre environment. Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH.
