Who we are We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals. You’ll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We’re enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role This is an exciting opportunity to be at the cutting edge of CCUS - carbon capture, utilisation and storage. You’ll be involved in developing innovation activities which will influence and inform the future direction of the business, specifically around technology and selection. You’ll be the key contact for non-Drax entities related to pilot activities in Drax Power Station’s Incubation Areas for CCUS. The role will involve working with external contractors, consultants and other supporting organisations to ensure safe and cost-effective delivery of work requirements. The role will also require you to build relationships and work closely with key stakeholders across the Drax business, in relation to pilot installation, operation and other work in the incubation area. You’ll be responsible for project management and progress tracking work streams. It’s an opportunity to help inform plans for strategic CCUS projects to manage risks, develop new opportunities and innovative ways of working which focus on mitigating business risks and generating maximum value.

Who we’re looking for If you have a background in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Mechanical Engineering, then you could be right for this role. Strong experience in any of these areas is interesting to us, and we can support development with the rest. You’ll also need experience of working with pilots, or hands-on experience of working on a plant or an applied R&D facility. A deep understanding of the execution requirements of complex projects is required to help inform and shape the initial stages of the development process. You’ll need to be comfortable giving advice and guidance on a wide range of subjects, such as project delivery, technology options and risk profiles. You’ll also need practical experience managing external advisors, consultants, stakeholders and partners. You’ll be an excellent communicator, with the ability to present to a group including senior managers and ExCom. You’ll demonstrate the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of business.

Rewards and benefits As you help us to shape the future, we’ve shaped our rewards and benefits to help you thrive and support your lifestyle: Competitive salary up to £65,000 per annum 15% on-target discretionary group performance-based bonus 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) Single cover private medical insurance Pension scheme We’re committed to making a tangible impact on the climate challenge we all face. Drax is where your individual purpose can work alongside your career drive. We work as part of a team that shares a passion for doing what’s right for the future. With Drax you can shape your career and a future for generations to come.

Together, we make it happen.

At Drax, we’re committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their role.
