About the Role This post is funded by a new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) grant by Innovate UK awarded to researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and LIfT BioSciences. The information generated from this exciting project will be instrumental in supporting LIfT BioSciences to improve their cell therapy based on the use of neutrophil-based cell therapies in patients with solid tumours. This is a hybrid working role based at the LIfT BioSciences facility in London and in the research laboratory of Dr Luigi Ombrato (Barts Cancer Institute). The role offers an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team with LIfT BioSciences and QMUL to develop the knowledge that will underpin the company's future developments with good prospects for career development in the LIfT BioSciences team. About You You will be responsible for the development of the innovative 3D co-culture systems and for the optimisation of platforms to study neutrophil cytotoxicity in solid tumours. To deliver this project successfully, it is essential to have a strong scientific and technical background in cell biology and immunology. Experience in tissue culture, flow cytometry and deciphering molecular mechanisms of action is essential. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of different individuals is essential to the post. Strong organisation skills and being able to maintain good laboratory records are also essential. An appropriate publication record, with first author publications, would be desirable. About the Project This project will focus on the establishment of 3D tumoroid models to re-create the tumour microenvironment (TME) of different cancers, including pancreatic, breast and lung cancer. These models will be used to study the role of neutrophils in the TME to understand how neutrophil cytotoxicity towards cancer cells can be enhanced.
