Job Description Duties The Department’s role is to carry out the machining of parts/components to the specification and tolerances as detailed in the issued drawings. All parts/components are to be machined to the procedures and systems that are in place i.e. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 80079-34 (ATEX) to ensure compliance and conformance at all times. Some assembly (e.g. Deployment Frames, Mechanical Assemblies) may be carried out in the Machine Shop by the Departments staff, but the responsibility for the pre-despatch inspection and completion of paperwork will be that of Product Assembly Manager. The department’s personnel should be multi-skilled so that to function properly, the Department is not reliant on specific individuals. Position Specific: To machine parts and components to defined specification in an efficient and timely manner. This includes prototypes, pre-production and one-off products. Responsibilities include: Carrying out “First off” and “Post-Production” inspection of components and parts, including both dimensional and surface finish checks. Implementing corrective actions to overcome problems (technical, timescale, quality) that may arise within the Department. Ensuring tracking/build documentation is completed and maintained to a standard that allows visibility of any Works Order progressing through the Machine Shop. Ensuring that relevant paperwork (e.g. material certificates) stays with the components and Works Orders at all times. Maintaining tidiness and cleanliness procedures within the Department. Following and adhering to all manufacturing procedures, providing feedback, and making recommendations for improvements. Accepting ownership and responsibility for delegated tasks to maintain quality standards and meet delivery deadlines. Monitoring consumables within the Machine Shop to prevent production delays. Storing and using chemicals/substances safely, ensuring compliance with all COSHH regulations. Reviewing methods within the Department to improve throughput and quality. Working in a safe and controlled manner to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
